Great little pitcher!

Bormioli Rocco Frigoverre Hermetic 2 Liters

Bormioli Rocco Frigoverre Hermetic 2 Liters

Bought three pitchers (1 x 2 liter, 2 x 1 liter). I wanted a square, heavy duty, well designed and functional pitcher that could survive the rigors of living in the fridge. There is nothing chintzy or nonsensical about these puppies. Heavy duty glass, space saving handle and spout which doesn't protrude past the body. No advanced engineering degree necessary to lock the lid either. Just press and turn. Most importantly, the lid stays put when I turn the 2 liter pitcher upside down to give my OJ a vigorous shake before pouring. Square design saves space in the fridge. Spout is a marriage between functionality and necessity. The "stubby" design protects it from getting banged up. Pouring is straight forward and no mystery if you don't make a meal out of it. Just put cup, glass, etc. under! the spout and let'er rip. Overall an excellent fridge pitcher (not much to look at though)that gets the job done.

I'm befuddled by some of the negative/critical reviews. If the pitcher is too heavy when full, get a smaller pitcher or don't fill it all the way. The lid has an O-ring but no groove(s) it can lock into. Hence, you have to push down to get a firm seal when locking. I found the handle design actually more conducive to lifting the pitcher when heavy. In short, this is an excellent pitcher that I would strongly recommend to anyone who is in the market for a quality utility pitcher.

  1. I have seen some reviews of these Bormioli Frigoverre pitchers say they couldn't figure out the lid. It took me all of 2 seconds to twist the knob and release its hermetic seal. THIS LID SEALS COMPLETELY FROM ODORS GETTING IN OR OUT.

The glass is solid, thick, and well-built.

Unless you have gigantic fat hands, you will not have any problem with the handle.

As for the pour, it is clean and drip-free. Again, I'm not sure how someone could have a problem pouring liquid out of a container. You tilt, the liquid comes out cleanly and into your cup of choice.

I can absolutely guarantee you will not regret buying this pitcher, and this company has won me over for future products as well.

  2. When my pitcher arrived, it did seem smaller than what I anticipated. However, I have had no problems with spilling, and its smaller size is actually what I now LOVE about it. It hardly takes up any refrigerator space - yet holds 2 quarts and then some. You do have to remove the lid for pouring and mixing, but I have had no problems when making instant iced tea and shaking it a bit to mix. You can turn the middle part of the lid to loosen or tighten it. I'm very happy with this pitcher!

  4. So far I'm loving my purchase. It's a very compact pitcher and will fit just about anywhere. The lid does form an airtight seal provided you turn it. I tested this by flipping the pitcher upside down and there was no leakage. The opening is large enough to fit your hand through for easy cleaning.

The glass is very thick and pretty heavy. The lid is made of plastic and the company couldn't verify for me if it was BPA free or not. They said that companies in Europe are not yet testing for this in their plastics. Seeing as your beverage shouldn't be touching the top rim of the plastic, this should be a non-issue anyway.

Overall I've been using this to store tea at my work and it's working out quite well.

  5. I really love these pitchers and I almost didn't buy them based on some other reviews. I first looked at the smaller, 1 liter version and a couple of people mentioned issues with the lids and also the closely designed handle. So I bought one as a test and liked it so much I bought two more small and 2 large versions. They came well wrapped and intact and are very solid pitchers. There's no problem with the lid if you screw it in properly. They fit nicely on my refrigerator door; three of the small ones on a shelf and two of the large on a shelf. I make various green and herbal teas at night and in the morning I have a great variety. I really am very pleased with these pitchers and would definitely recommend them.

  6. I've had my one-liter pitcher for years and years, and it is none the less for wear. The lid seals perfectly after many washings in the dishwasher - it's unique, but once you learn how to use it, it does the job. I will be adding a larger version to my household soon, to keep our filtered water in the fridge.
