Frontier Mustard Yellow Certified Organic

I bought both this mustard seed and the brown mustard seed from Amazon. The price and quality is great, and I have used both to make homemade Dijon mustard. After trying homemade mustard, you will not buy the stuff from the store ever again. It is so incredibly easy to make, and so much better than the processed mustard. The recipe that I used is:
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
1/4 cup brown mustard seeds
1/4 cup yellow mustard seeds
1/2 tsp. kosher salt

Put all ingredients in a glass bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap. Let sit at room temperature for 2 days.
Transfer mixture to a blender and blend until the desire consistency is reached. (It will not reach a smooth consistency.)
Transfer to a glass container with a tight fitting lid, and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.

This recipe is simple, but make a great Dijon mustard.

  1. This mustard seed is great for rubs or for pickling and braising roasts.

If you want to grind this for mustard and want to make a really 'smooth' mustard, grind it as fine as you can in your spice grinder and then sift the mustard bran out with a fine mesh colander. If you want that pretty 'bright' yellow color, just add a pinch or two of powdered turmeric.

This spice was packaged nicely in well-sealed foil bags. This mustard seed was very uniform, clean and debris free.

This is NOT hot mustard. This is a very mild mustard much like your typical American 'hot dog' mustard. No 'bite' or 'kick' to it. Very nice flavor though despite not being hot.

  3. Oregano and Mustard seeds are one of a handful number of foods recommended by CDC during heavy flu season. Black, white and brown varieties, a cruciferous vegetable, in the same family as cabbage, brussels, sprouts and broccoli that when chewed up and eaten, the vegetables release substances called isothiocyanates, beneficial for lungs. High in selenium with anti-inflammatory properties, beneficial in treating medical conditions such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis and one spoon of mustard seeds offers 20% with 3gr of protein. I just chew the white color ones instead of chewing gum since it has a good sharp taste but not the dark ones due to its bitter taste. I use dark ones when making pickles as well as any food that I cook on stove. Never grind any in my coffee grinder like I do with sesame and flax seeds to mix with my protein powder since it truly is impossible due to allyl-isothiocyanate content which will irritate eyes and nose with lots of discomfort and mess. Never consume the commercial type powder since it includes additives and just like any nut become rancid in powder form shortly after grinding.

  7. I was delighted to find 2 lbs of yellow mustard seed at this price. They come packed in 1 lb bags and I was entirely happy with the quality of the seed. I personally didn't find any husks or anything other than mustard seed with my purchase. I'd certainly purchase again!!! Thank you for a great quality product at an affordable price.
