The best rodent trap

Rodent Terminator Kills Sized Rats

Rodent Terminator Kills Sized Rats

It works, it's humane, and it's clean compared to other methods. Very easy to dispose of the body by tipping it into a plastic grocery bag and putting it in the trash. Plus it works right away, rats seem to accept it faster than traps, etc. that I've tried in the past. I put gloves or plastic newspaper bags over my hands when touching it so the rats wouldn't smell a human scent (and so I wouldn't have to touch it - lol :-)

After only 3 weeks (on a covered porch) it stopped working. I have returned it and will try another one. I contact the company and heard back immediately (on a weekend!!) that it had a 1 year warranty and if there is ever a problem in the future I can contact them directly rather than go through Amazon and it will be resolved right away. I am ordering the replacement unit today, and might invest in a second unit for the back patio (our subdivision is all wooden houses built 35 years ago on an old citrus orchard, so fruit rats are a constant battle, especially since we have a goldfish pond on our covered porch they like to hide and nest behind).

Impressive unit AND impressive customer service. Nice combination.

PS I do wish there was a was to control the ants, the food left inside attracks tons of the tiny "sugar" ants.

  1. We ordered one of these after reading about other similar products on amazon because this one is weatherproof. We wanted to rid out premises of chipmunks. It has worked very well; we ordered two more and our neighbor has ordered some as well. We have used some dry dog food pieces and sunflower seeds from the bird feeder as bait quite successfully. We are experiencing drought conditions in our area and that has allowed some mice to eat the bait and leave droppings! We have been working on creating a moist "door mat" for the trap. We highly recommend this product. I have lost count of how many critters we have caught! Finding the right "spot" to place the trap is important. We had to move ours around a little bit to find the most prolific areas. We plan to move them into our garages as the weather cools...we live in the woods and have always had a variety of traps in the garages to fight the mice in winter. We think these will be the best yet. We don't use poison since we have dogs. We did order the d cell batteries at the same time as the trap. The first trap came a day before the batteries; I dug in a drawer and found some batteries that were who knows how old to get the trap set up. We did have to change those mystery batteries after catching 5 or 6 critters. The "new" batteries are going strong in the traps. We highly recommend this product!

  2. I have used 3 brands of electonic rat traps over the past 8 years. I just got this one and it is definitely better built. Says it can handle the rain, but I have not tested that yet. I can tell you that rain is what killed my other two units so I decided to pay a little extra and get this one. The design of this unit is great, removable top makes it easy. To dump dead rats and insert more food. I also like that the LEDs show not nly when you have killed a rat but also if the batteries are low. First night it caught 3 rats at one time, not even sure how that happened but I have photos to prove it.

  3. I purchased this little electric chair in my war against terror.
from chipmonks. These cute little critters constantly eat my tomatoes.
It's all out war now, that's all I can stanz, I can't stanz no more!
This contraption gets them and it can be placed outside in the garden.
    Perfect!!

  4. All I can say is wow, this thing works great! I was a little hesitant to spend the money when I ordered it. I'm really glad I took the chance. Best money I have ever spent. We live in a very rural area and have chickens and ducks. They attract rodents. I've had this out for a week now. It's killed 6 rats. I highly recommend this! It's rain proof too. Still works out in the rain and no need to cover or enclose it. I'm very very happy with my purchase! All we do is put a little chicken feed in the little cup inside and it does the rest! If you have a rodent problem and buy this, you won't regret it.

  5. This product is an excellent alternative to the snapping rat traps. It kills instantly and effectively. I received it yesterday afternoon and that same night, I was able to kill and dispose of a huge rat. You see, I have a rabbit and the rats come around for the food on my balcony. Its very easy to use, You simply pop in the D batteries, close it, put dog kibble in it or peanut butter, and let it do its job. When the rodent is dead, simply slide the top off and dump it into a bag. I purchased this because the snap traps would sometimes only injure the rat and not kill it. I would recommend this to anyone who is squeamish about killing rodents or would like to make sure the rat is instantly killed. Works great and its worth the price. Its very sturdy and very easy to use.

  7. Ok, before I purchased this, I did see the other reviews..and they did seem "fishy" as someone else pointed out. But I went ahead and bought one..perhaps more out of curiosity.. Anyway, just to state, I have absolutely no relation with this company, it's seller, or distributor. Nobody asked me to write this review. I'm just a guy with some mice in my house...

The unit is well designed and constructed. Design is all about functionality, good solid straightforward engineering. Looks like a pro piece of equipment. It's made from a dense/thick high quality plastic. The top portion holds the batteries and circuitry, the bottom portion is the zapper plates, and where you place the bait (I used a couple bits of dry dog food). The top mates securely to the bottom with a slide-together action...also making electrical contact. LED's turn green indicating you're locked and loaded, so to speak. As an electrical engineer myself, this is the "better mouse trap" I've always had in my head, and happy someone finally built one (if I'd only applied for that patent..:).

Well, it certainly does work as advertised. I've zapped three mice so far. I have it in my kitchen. When "triggered", It makes a sound for about 30 seconds similar to a cell phone sitting on a table in vibrate mode..wasn't sure what it was first time I heard it, went in the kitchen and saw the red flashing LED's, said "dang, it works!".

I had assumed when triggered it would deliver one quick jolt from a charged capacitor, but it really gives a more continuous taser-like delivery of electricity over what I'm guessing is about 30 seconds...the mice are killed instantly though, there's no horrible thrashing about or anything...and when disposing of the mice, you just got an intact, but dead mouse...nothing gross beyond that. We should not inflict pain on animals (even little mices!) and I do believe this is the most humane way to kill a mouse. Poisons, sticky traps, and snap traps are an awful solution for many obvious reasons...

This is a great product...if you buy one, you'll see what I mean..

  8. I tried a product from another source, but it was not successful. I terminated a chipmunk each of the first two nights with this Rodent Terminator! the only problem I has was when a slug crawled inside and caused the zapper to keep firing until I cleaned off the metal plate. I liked the weather resistant housing, because I needed to use it outside where chipmunks were digging at our home foundation, as well as burrowing under freshly planted shrubs, killing a prized plant. I was pleased with the effectiveness of this zapper and the ease of disposing of the rodent and rebating with sunflower seed kernels. Useful product!! thank you,
    Rodent Terminator!!
